REACH – The new European Chemicals Law
REACH is the European Union (EU) regulation for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals.
REACH came into force on June 1st 2007, with the stated purpose to streamline and improve the previous chemical legislation in the EU. The main aims of REACH are to ensure high levels of protection of human health and the environment. The legislation also aims to promote alternative test methods and strengthen the innovativeness and competitiveness of the EU.
Under REACH, the manufacturer and/or importer bears more responsibility than before for evaluating the use-specific risk presented by chemicals and for providing users with appropriate safety information.
As a manufacturer and importer of chemicals, Sensient will have the substances in its product portfolio registered as stipulated by REACH and will continue to cooperate closely with our customers as far as possible in these efforts.
